Children
Eye care - orthoptics - glasses - treatment
Ensuring healthy vision in children is of utmost importance to me. As a child's eye learns to see from birth, regular eye examinations are crucial for their visual development. The Mother-Child passport examination, carried out in the first and second year of life, provides a good initial checkup for your child's eyes.

As the eyes of a child continue to develop and change throughout childhood and adolescence, it is essential to have regular checkups to prevent any potential vision problems from affecting their daily lives, including their school performance.
I am committed to providing comprehensive and personalized eye care to children of all ages, and I would be happy to help your child achieve optimal visual health.

Retinoscopy
-
Your child's eyes are instilled with dilating eye drops cyclopentolate - waiting time about 30 minutes
-
The pupils dilate, your child sees things close up blurry (approx. 12-24 hours)
-
An objective measurement of the eyes then follows with the retinoscope
-
In addition, the lens, the optic nerve and retina can be better assessed through the wide pupil, and congenital cataracts or retinoblastoma can be better diagnosed
Progressive Myopia
-
Increasing short-sightedness (myopia) in childhood
-
A growing problem due to cell phones and tablets
-
The more myopic your child is in adulthood, the higher the risk of retinal tears, retinal detachment and myopic macular degeneration later on
-
Staying outdoors, at least 10 hours/week in broad daylight
-
In addition to retinoscopy, an eye axial length measurement is recommended
Orthoptics
-
Orthoptics deals with the analysis and assessment of the visual system, in particular the eye muscles (eye movements).
-
An important focus of orthoptics is the treatment of strabismus, which is often due to problems with the eye muscles.
-
Orthoptics can also help treat other eye conditions such as amblyopia (weak vision) and diplopia (double vision).
